Hi, I’m Trey Acharya. Welcome to my portfolio.
As a hands-on builder and designer, I am at my best alongside driven peers who create meaningful impact. Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s project centered curriculum and emphasis on real world, problem solving that directly aligns with how I learn, which gives me the foundation to become the innovative product designer I aspire to be.
"As a child, I always loved the toys and products we had back then. I personally feel that today's consumer products are mundane and bland and they don't seem as meaningful to people.
I want to design and engineer aesthetically pleasing products for people of all age groups that are personalized, efficient and they feel emotionally connected to them."

Chubbington
Dental Handpiece
Blood Glucose Monitoring Wearable
A cute, rotund, and funny robot that goes against some of the usual, blocky shapes of many robots by being inclusive and adorable. He's intended to be a cheerful, interactive robot.
An improved dental drill for Dentists that eliminates serious issues like hand cramps, slippage, and has a flexible top piece that doesn't require constant adjustment.
A noninvasive, wearable glucose monitoring ring that's track and measure blood-glucose through minuscule sensors that stick to the finger's sweat.

Since you now know the theme upon which Chubbington was built, let me tell you about the technical design process a bit. Solidworks is the 3D CAD software I used. Chubbington is complex. It requires multiple parts, with multiple cuts, fillet and chamfer to make it symmetric and yet asymmetric to provide a great looking feeling of being adorable. The side panel explains the complexity.

Dental Drill.mp4
Funny story, but this project design was inspired because of my battle with "Dental Braces".
Imagine Dental assistants trying to shape your teeth and the braces! The Dental Handpiece is so inconvenient, and slippery. You got that right, it falls out of the hands, the pressure on teeth is not uniform and hurts the braces and the teeth. A simple change can make the instrument exceptional.

RingVideo-recording.mp4
Glucose monitoring, could be life and death for those who suffer from it. Since it is an emergency, one needs to build an ergonomic, extremely simple design where someone just sees the Glucose level on the screen and is aware.

“I mentored Trey for a full year! She is gifted when it comes to designing small, detailed and aesthetic objects. She will be a great Product Designer ”

“I have known Trey for 10 years, and have mentored her personally for the last 3 years, studying CAD/Engineering at Greater Lowell Technical High School.
Her ability to bring the Arts and the Design together is exceptional. I have worked for the topmost 3D company ( Autodesk) and I am a designer as well. Trey, at a young high school age can put complex 3D designs many engineering students cannot. A real feat! Definitely a very good future Product Designer”
